Foster caregivers receive a monthly maintenance payment that covers the costs of caring for a child or youth in care, dependant on the level of care provided. Payments will be issued between the 3rd and 6th calendar days of the month. Rates below are effective July 1, 2025.
Maintenance Payments
Foster caregivers receive maintenance payments as an allowance paid for each day that a child or youth is placed in a home.

Service Payments
Foster caregivers who provide specialized care for children and youth with moderate to extraordinary support needs receive a service payment in addition to the maintenance payment per child or youth. This additional payment recognizes the special caregiving skills and extra time required to meet the needs of a child or youth.
